The Ministry of Defence is looking for a supplier of sniper rifle spares and is prepared to fork out up to £4 million over the next three years for them.
The invitation to tender says:
Defence Support Group, Land Supply Business Unit, part of the UK Ministry of Defence seeks to establish a 2 year Enabling Contract, with an option to extend for a further year, for the supply of spares to support a range of Sniper Rifles.
The contract is worth between £833,000 and £4.3m, and lasts for 36 months.
It is likely, in UKSN’s view, that EU and government procurement rules mean the contract has to be advertised publicly even though the current maker of the British armed forces’ sniper rifles, Accuracy International, will probably continue supplying spares for the rifles they built.
