Leicester rifle club raided by thieves: Guns stolen – pics and serial numbers here

A Leicester rifle club has been raided by thieves and its armoury emptied of airguns and rimfire rifles.

The Leicester Mercury newspaper reports that a total of 30 guns were stolen from Leicester and District Small-bore Rifle and Pistol Club. The club’s firearms secretary, Keith Sutton, told the paper: “They broke through the wall, which has metal strengthening bars in it, and made a hole to climb through before passing the weapons out.”

The stolen .22 rifles are as follows. The descriptions have been taken from a list that UK Shooting News understands was issued by the club. Stock pictures are used to illustrate them to help the licensed firearms community and others recognise these rifles if offered for sale:

Serial numbers for Anschutz rifles can be found on the side of the breech, just forward of the loading port. The bolt will have the last three digits of its rifle’s serial number stamped into the bolt face.

Serial numbers for Martini-actioned BSA rifles can be found stamped into the barrel and on the side of the action assembly when removed from the rifle by way of undoing the big thumbscrew.
