19 Jan 2016 – The Government Digital Service is getting close to rolling out electronic firearm and shotgun certificate applications, according to their official blog.
In the blog post, published yesterday, GDS’ Harry Trimble wrote: “The process is straightforward enough to make mapping it a manageable piece of work, while it has sufficient level of complexity that it may usefully be applied to similar services.”
It is clear that this work is more closely related to web design than licensing and simply puts the existing paper-based process online. Nonetheless, it is interesting to see how GDS has turned a 9 page print form into about 18 web pages.
There will be no changes in the amount of information demanded by police, nor the level of fees.
