29 April 2016 – Following UK Shooting News’ rough’n’ready analysis of the counties where police and crime commissioner elections can be affected by the shooting vote, here is the full data for each individual police area.
Shooters could potentially swing the vote in each of their force areas thanks to low turnouts in the PCC elections.
Police and Crime Commissioners are members of the public elected to have a degree of control over their police forces. They can apply pressure to chief constables to ensure services such as firearms licensing are carried out promptly and efficiently.
The first table below shows the counties in which the number of firearm and shotgun certificates on issue is greater than the sitting PCC’s majority.
The next table shows all the counties where certificates are outnumbered by the sitting PCC’s majority.
UKSN urges shooters to consider whether local candidates are pro-shooting or not. Further information can be found on the BASC and CA websites.
