Have the Air Cadets really not ordered any new .22″ rifles?

20 June 2016 – Rumours reach UK Shooting News that the Air Training Corps has not ordered any new L144A1 cadet .22″ rifles – despite the No.8 rifle being due for withdrawal just three months from now.

Other rumours reaching UKSN indicate that the ATC does not even have any funds earmarked to buy the rifles, though that does seem rather unlikely.

Initial indications are that the MoD has placed an initial order for 750 L144s, though this may well be the ACF PR machine once again confusing itself with ‘the cadet forces’ as a whole.

Can anyone in ATC land shed any light on this?

Broomsticks or Airsoft? Lord Nelson should have been so armed!
Such familiarity and practice with firearms would have been so comforting at Normandy.
