23 March 2019 – The Times has published a hit job against the UKPSA this morning, linking practical shotgun disciplines with the New Zealand mass murders last week.
24 Oct 18 – As the Offensive Weapons Bill stalls in Parliament following a backbench rebellion over government plans to ban big rifles, UKSN’s author has a few ideas for nipping this kind of State behaviour in the bud.
11 Sep 18 – The Offensive Weapons Bill, which seeks to ban any rifle capable of generating over 13,600J muzzle energy and self-unloading rifles, plus a host of hostile amendments that would ban handloading and associated activities, is going through Parliament this morning.
The live stream is here on the Parliament website. The list of proposed amendments is here, also on the Parliament website. You need to read along with those to understand the live stream. Note the links to move to the next page at the bottom.
MPs on the committee are all anti-shooting. It appears that the licensed firearms community has not only failed to make a single friend on the committee (a small group of MPs appointed to nod through the Bill) but has also not influenced any other MPs in positions of influence so far.
The Bill is currently at committee stage in the Commons. It must go through its report stage and third reading before starting its journey through the Lords, which is mainly dominated by left-wingers promoted during the Labour years.
15 July 2018 – The Offensive Weapons Bill currently before Parliament will ban all self-unloading rifles and rifles with a muzzle energy greater than 10,000ft-lbs. We must unite to tell our MPs to vote this down.
20 Dec 2017 – post temporarily deleted, apparently the NLRC just accepted the NRA’s latest rent offer while I was writing this.
18 Dec 17 – UKSN’s author has come across an illuminating blog post from a firearms barrister; the sort of lawyer who you absolutely wouldn’t want to have fighting your corner in a dispute with the State.
9 Dec 17 – Don’t forget to tell the government not to ban MARS and 50-calibre rifles. UKSN’s author has just sent in his response to the public consultation, which ends today.
