The House of Lords has published the latest amendments to the Policing and Crime Bill – including a number of firearms updates.
18 Aug 16 – Your correspondent is doing more actual work at work, hence the output on UK Shooting News has dropped dramatically. However, some of that work will still be of interest to UKSN readers. I give you my interview with a senior manager at BAE Systems’ Radway Green factory, the famous RG, about their new 7.62mm and 5.56mm product lines.
8 Jan 2016 – Handloading your own ammunition could contribute to raised levels of toxic lead in your bloodstream, if a Norwegian scientific study is to be believed.
At least one person has reportedly been killed while three others are missing after an explosion at the factory of Czech ammunition manufacturer Sellier & Bellot.
The NRA has released the results of its .308″ GGG ammunition testing – and it appears to be very consistent ammo indeed, according to the test results.
The Fieldsports Channel – http://www.fieldsportschannel.tv – covered the NRA Inter-Counties Meeting last weekend and has its video online now.
It includes interviews with, amongst others, Parag Patel, winner of more medals and prizes than I care to look up, NRA chairman John Webster (who says the sport is not expensive for a novice) and GGG ammo rep Aleksandras Nikonovas.
Robert Oxford on the excellent UK Fullbore Target Rifle group on Facebook has taken lots of pictures and measurements of the latest GGG 7.62mm 155gr ammo being issued for this year’s Imperial Meeting.
UK Shooting News recommends reading his findings, which are on his website over here.
Notable points include a cartridge base to ogive measurement extreme spread of 0.008″ and an all-up loaded round weight of 380gns, accurate to within a single grain – except for one round that was 5gns over that.
Boxes of GGG also fit into H83 ammo tins neatly, which makes a nice change from the huge RWS boxes.
Don’t forget, the official technical spec for GGG 155gr is also available on UKSN.
